From My Closet: The Best of Amazon Sweaters

Believe it or not, the photo above isn’t staged, it’s an actual shot of my sweater laundry day. Needless to say, I have a “look” I’m committed to in the colder months. I also think it’s safe to say that I might just be dedicated to a color palette as well!

Here’s the thing, I honestly feel like I’m going through a wardrobe transition in life where I only want items in my closet that I reach for over and over.

Over the past few months, versatile, comfortable pieces that mix well with each other and can be worn a million ways are the items that I end up adding to my cart. Blame it on quarantine or maybe my age, but wither way I want everything I own to be machine washable, soft, comfy and perfect for the playground or a quick dinner with my husband.

I have to admit that I didn’t always turn to Amazon for sweaters because I think it’s very easy for a knit piece to show lack of quality. No one wants to pay for a sweater and end up with pulling, pilling or stretching out of shape. I picked up my first one as an experiment when searching for my 2020 Drop Off Outfits post and haven’t looked back since.

I’m here to tell you can find amazing quality knitwear for a budget.

Meet my actual Amazon Sweater wardrobe, complete with my pics, sizes and fit notes:

For reference, I’m a size 8-10, 5’9″ and consider a large to be my true size for both my height and bust size.

This little sweater is shown in a true, bright white and has the cutest little details. The diamond pattern, pom poms and oversized cuff elevate this traditional cut.

I’m wearing a Large and it runs TTS with a closer fit on the chest.

I love the look of this take on a button down. I’ve worn it both buttoned and unbuttoned and it’s particularly cute with jeans and a tank or bodysuit.

I’m in a Large.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know this funnel neck sweater is absolutely one of my best finds of the past year. The material, subtle ribbing, cuff and hem details and color-ways are a knock out for the price! I own both the grey and black.

I am wearing a large in the photo but suggest sizing down at least one. If you are petite or small-framed, you may need to size down 2 sizes.

The stars of this striped sweater are the gold buttons on the shoulder. The hammered detail looks much more pricey than it is and the material is oh so soft.

I’m in a large in the beige but it comes in a ton of color options!

For some reason, I cannot find a photo of me rocking this chunky knit sweater! It has a boxy fit with heavy knit and is so cute with denim shorts and white jeans as the seasons change.

I’m in a large and recommend steaming it when it comes out of the packaging. Mine was flat packed and that created wrinkles deep in the fabric – a quicks steam and it was perfect.

My newest find and the sweater I’m reaching for constantly at the moment!

I’m in a large but the fit is very oversized, so feel free to size down. If you are short waisted or petite, you definitely need to size down one. PS, this sweater reminds me of another, much higher priced item from a brand we all know and love!

Truly, the quality of this open front, long tan cardigan is unreal.

There are such thoughtful details, like the lighter shade of tan on the collar, that really elevate it, even if I do only wear it with leggings and a tee. I’m in a large but could have easily done a medium.

Behold, the world’s softest sweatshirt. I started calling this the “suede sweatshirt” because the fabric feels so luxe. I have worn this sweatshirt more times than I can count and it pairs with anything. Black jeans, white jeans, denim shorts, leggings, biker shorts, you name it.

I’m in a large in the color off white and also love the black!

This cream cable knit sweater was the first to blow me away in quality department of all of the Amazon sweaters. It truly looks and feels like a J Crew sweater. It’s a traditional cut and fit but the side vents make it super flattering.

I’m in a large in the oatmeal heather.

This open front, grey thigh length cardigan is the perfect layering piece. It’s thin and soft and was one of my favorite finds of the Fall. It can really go anywhere and do anything, a closet staple.

I’m wearing a Large in the soft heather grey.

This little bubble sleeve sweater is so sweet. It’s thin, more of a top in my opinion, but it made the list because it’s so versatile.

I’m wearing a Large in the light pink, which seems to be no longer available (shown in black in the graphic). There are a ton of great colors to choose from, though!

This sweater is named the Bat Wing Sweater, but in truth, the bat wing style sleeve isn’t super dramatic. I just think of it as a crazy soft, slightly ribbed turtleneck. There is a great hem detail and a center seam that is so flattering – this one is perfect to wear with leggings! I own it in two colors.

Wearing a Large in Indigo (shown in black in the graphic). You could size down on this one and should if you’re petite or don’t need length to cover your backside.
