I am so excited to finally share Geogia’s completed big girl room!
This little space is one of my faves – it’s full of life, a little chaos and a lot of girly elements that are perfect for our girl. I truly enjoy creating spaces that reflect the personalities of my kids and this one is no different!
Two things I’m proud of in her room:
1. Many of her nursery pieces, toddler room items and decor we owned are in this space.
I shopped very little for it, which has always been my goal when planning for growing kids. It was time to upgrade to a big girl bed, so that and a rug to fit the room were our major purchases.
2. The closet renovation!
Our house is full of charm and original details, including unique closet configurations. Georgia’s room has two small, side by side closets with their own doors and a shared wall between. We decided it was not cost effective to tear down the wall and attempt to repair the original floors, wiring, put up new dry wall etc, so we teamed up with The Tailored Closet to see what could be done. Wait until you see what they came up with! When I first saw the design plans, I could not believe it could all be done…
Here’s what her room looked like on the day we had the house inspected:
And here’s what it looks like today:

Some of my favorite little details include her pink tiger duvet that my mother-in-law made for her with fabric purchased from Spoonflower and the “art piece” above her bed. We needed a piece that would visually take up a lot of vertical space and brought in a playful element without breaking the bank. I was browsing the home section of Anthropologie one day and spotted this wild little dish towel that says “the queen of fun”. Inspiration struck and I knew it had to be ours. I had it framed via Frambridge and love how she looks.
And now, the magic. Get ready to meet her new closet….
The built in hamper gives me life.
The goal was to create a space that will grow with her. Johann at The Tailored Closet and I schemed and planned, creating a beautiful space around my must have list.
There are racks for long dresses, shelves for shoes, storage up high for baskets, suitcases and off-season items, divided hanging for her school clothes and all of it is adjustable! As she grows, we’ll move hanging bars to accommodate for her reach and clothing.
We also built in a tiny little vanity area, lots of storage for her accessories and dolls, added lighting (yes, those shelves are actually lit!) and a gorgeous wood toned backing to make the space feel truly thoughtful and custom.
I never dreamed we could fit so many details into those two closets, but the install was seamless, took just a few hours and The Tailored Closet team was just so knowledgeable and professional. I was worried about being limited in my decor choices, but the options are just gorgeous – so many finishes, trims and hardware styles are on hand. You don’t have to be local to Charlotte to use The Tailored Closet, they are nationwide, just head to the website to see locations!
