My first try on in months was so fun! I hit J. Crew Factory to build some mom-on-the-go looks for Fall and was oh so pleased to find that every single thing was on major sale! I walked out with great pieces, have a few more to order in my size online and can’t wait to share them all with you.
There are 12 looks below, all built on great basics that can be mixed and matched, including 4 pairs of denim!
Here are my stats:
5’9″, DD, typically a Large in tops and size 8/29 or 30, depending on the cut/rise in bottoms
Camo Sweater (in a Large): I love this elevated camo look – instead of a tee, this is a fitted knit sweater and I really think it’s insanely versatile. If you’re busty, be sure to size for you bust.
Distressed Denim (in a 29): If you’ve been hunting for the distressed look without a ton of holes or knee rips, this is a great option. The wash and minimal distressing looks clean and appropriate – especially when paired with the amazing calf hair flats.
Leopard Flats (True to size): Ok, these flats. I’m wearing them in pretty much every single photo and, for me, they’re a neutral. Truly the easiest to throw on and go, they do come in a ton of other colors and prints. They run TTS and are super comfy.

Sweater Coat (in a Medium): This sweater coat is a great layer to toss on over pajamas or a tee and jeans – and it really pulls together the camo + leopard combo I’m rocking above. Also available in black, olive and red in case you aren’t into the camel.
Sweater (in a Medium): this sweater comes in a ton of colors (light blue, light grey, coral + more) and has the perfect length. It’s longer in the back and has slide slits which allows it to lay perfectly, meaning it’s long enough to wear over leggings! I’m also into the rolled hem detail and the v neck – but be prepared that the v is a little deep, but nothing too scandalous.
Jeans (in a 29): If you’ve been looking for a classic fit, high rise black jean with no distressing, then look no further. This pair has a classic leg line so isn’t super tight – no weird wiggling to get them on and no showing lumps and bumps once you do. The rise is over the belly button and they really are super flattering.
Tee (in a Large): In all honesty, I don’t love the fit of J. Crew Factory tees – I do own a few and have sized up to an XL for a more comfortable fit. If you’re in the market for tees, I highly recommend this one. But, for putting together outfits, I snagged this soft grey v neck in a large.
Raw Hem Black Denim (in a 29): A total slam dunk, this pair of denim is high rise, comfy, a light black/”distressed black” wash and has a raw hem. I couldn’t buy them fast enough. They can be dressed up or down (I’ll show you this pair a few more times in this post), are flattering, easy and soft.
Open Front Sweater (in a Medium): Let me say it loud and clear: I have never felt a softer fabric. This open front sweater has matching sweatpants, which I bought, and comes in a handful of colors. It really is the epitome of “am I wearing my pajamas from last night or new clothes? You’ll never know!” which is my kind of style!
Ok, by now you’ve seen all of these pieces, but look how you can mix them up! Isn’t this the cutest little outfit for fall? Perfect for when it’s cool in the am but sweltering by noon (hello, Fall in the South).
Button Front Denim (in a 30): For those of you who love the look of the Madewell button fronts but don’t love the price point, these are the jeans for you! They are so dang flattering, high rise (above the belly button), in a dark wash that slims the leg. Truly, if you wanted to try this style, snag these!

Plaid Cape-Scarf: don’t let the name scare you, this is literally a blanket with arm holes. It’s so easy to wear and can be thrown over anything – like the jeans and tee shirt look I live in. You can also wear it as a traditional scarf like below!
Button Down (wearing a Medium): Literally, this entire look is a dupe of Madewell at a fraction of the price. This shirt is super comfy and light, but it is very cropped, it just tucks right at the high rise denim waist band. Now, keep in mind that I’m tall and could have sized up for a large for length, but the fit is just perfect on the medium. If you’re worried size up!
Tee (in a Large): I love this mustard color, be sure to size up for a looser fit or if you’re in between sizes, the tee runs small
Dark Wash Skinny Denim (in a 30): Heads up, these skinny jeans run SMALL. I probably could have done a 31. The wash is super dark, which makes them incredibly slimming. The leg is very skinny and the rise is mid – so below the belly button but without butt crack showing, which is truly best for everyone.

Yep, that’s the same open front, Insanely Soft sweater pictured in dark grey above. Super cute, right?
Ya’ll know before I even have to say it that I bought every single item in this photo!
Sweatshirt (in a Large): ok, lets talk about this sweatshirt. I love it. It’s the perfect elevated basic. It comes in a great range of colors (I want the cream and the green is amazing in person) and my store was sold out of nearly every one. It does run a bit short and more fitted than slouchy, so if you want a longer, more relaxed fit, size up one. I’m wearing what I consider to be my true size, a large, but I won’t be drying it because it will absolutely be too short if I do.
Sweatpants (in a Large): THE SOFTEST MATERIAL EVER. Just do it. Thank me later.
That camo sweater is so cute – I had to pop over to J. Crew and grab my own! All the looks you put together are so great!
